In 1989, the nine Episcopal Churches in Harford County, Maryland established Holy Family House, Inc. to shelter homeless families with children. It started with one housing unit. Now we are the largest provider for homeless families with children in the county:
16 individual family units. Now we provide more than a house, we provide a program to transition families from homelessness to self sufficiency.
After purchasing the Delle Grove Apartment building in December 2004, the name of the organization was changed to Harford Family House, Inc. to acknowledge all the churches, individuals, organizations and businesses that built on the great foundation already laid.
The House has grown beyond providing transitional housing, We now offer: The mission remains the same – to help homeless families with children become self-sufficient and productive members of society. We will keep exploring ways to accomplish this mission. We will keep adding services. We will keep asking you to help us help. IT’S THAT IMPORTANT. Harford Family House, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) 3. Donate Now! |

SUCCESS STEP STORY One family came to Harford Family House (HFH), stayed for a year and then became responsible renters in the local market. HFH encouraged them to apply for a Habitat for Humanity home. They did and were approved. From homelessness to owning a home in just over two years. Another client applied for a Habitat home while she was still in the program at HFH. She was approved. We extended her stay for just a few months so she could go from homelessness to owning a home in just under two years. Not every family is ready for this step when they leaven HFH, but it is great when they are. HELP US HELP. |
