Notice of Permanent Housing Availability

Harford Family House, Inc., a non-profit housing ministry for homeless families with children, announces the availability of permanent housing. Permanent by definition does not have a definite time limit. However, it is expected that clients will work towards self-sufficiency.

Candidate Criteria:

  • Have a diagnosed disability
  • Meet the HUD definition of homeless persons
  • Meet criteria relating to criminal background
  • Be free of substance abuse or at least six months sobriety and actively engaged in supportive services for addictions
  • Eighteen years of age or older
  • Have primary residential custody of dependent children ages birth to eighteen years old
  • If an intact family, must be married

If chosen for an Interview, please bring:

  • Current photo identification for applicant
  • Social security cards and birth certificates for all household members
  • $35 for criminal background check ($70 for intact family)
  • Documentation supporting disability
  • Documentation supporting custody arrangements
  • Letter from referring agency verifying homelessness

If selected to become a resident of Harford Family House, you will be required to:

  • Develop and adhere to an Action Plan with the Case Manager
  • Participate in Steps to Independence Program (Life Skills/Job Readiness/Personal Development activities)
  • Obtain minimum of GED, attend college or vocational training program
  • Seek and secure minimum of part-time employment
  • Pay monthly rent and utilities to Harford Family House
  • Observe rules and regulations of the Admission Agreement
  • Submit to drug and alcohol screening

All housing programs and activities conducted by and through Harford Family House, Inc., its directors, employees and volunteers shall be conducted without regard to age, gender, ancestry, color, creed, race, national origin or mental/physical disability.
